MJ, for her part, was blissfully unaware of poor Peter Parker's inner turmoil. Adding to the island's apparent efforts to suddenly give Peter a hard time was not on her personal agenda. If she had it her way, she wouldn't even be here right now.
But under the circumstances, things could definitely be worse for her. At least she wasn't all alone here. There were familiar faces, including what seemed like most of the Avengers, so she felt safe enough. She worried about how her mom was doing without her at home, but like she explained to Dr. Banner, MJ had grown up fairly independent. She would have gone off to college eventually, or at least that was the hope, so being away from home in and of itself didn't bother her. Despite the strangeness of suddenly appearing on the island, MJ was actually adjusting pretty well.
Besides the pure adventure of it, MJ was feeling slightly smug at her capacity for deduction. She knew there was something fishy about Peter abruptly quitting this class or that after-school activity. The whole thing about the "Stark internship" and the suddenly disappearances and reappearances. She was glad to be proven right that he was Spider-Man.
MJ whipped opened the door after seeing Peter approach the bungalow, but never hearing the knock she expected. "How long were you planning on standing out here?" she asked in her characteristically blunt way.
