Allison's first thought was 'oh no, unattended child'. Because of course it was. She remembered when Claire had been about that age and while this little girl might be a bit smarter than Claire had been about certain 'adventures', a two year-old was going to be drawn to the ocean. And that was not something she needed on her conscience ever.
So she rushed over to intercept but then froze. Those weren't the features of that awkward fresh-out-of-infancy look. No too big teeth or round chubby cheeks or bow legs. "Hi," she said, trying not to look as startled as she felt. Were hobbits real? Had she found a literal hobbit? The welcome packet hadn't prepared her for this. "I'm Allison. Are you new?"
