"I never really got into the scruffy look," she admitted with a smile. Kind of hard to with military life. The Federation was relatively relaxed in its dress code but 'scruff' was still typically frowned upon. "But there's no time like the present."
She offered her hand. "Good to meet you. Officially, anyway." The network was helpful, at least. She felt like she sort of knew everyone, but it wasn't really enough. And the social events around here were good if you took the effort to meet people. Which she had, admittedly, not been doing. Well, time to change that. "I'm definitely not from a sandy climate, but I'll live. The ocean is a nice touch, at least." Maybe one of these days she'd learn boating. It wasn't like flying, but it might be nice.
"You sound well traveled." Anyone who knew that many kinds of sand had seen more than one location over time. Possibly many locations. "I feel like this place might be a massive slow down for you."
