WHO: Logan and Asher WHEN: Thursday after lunch WHERE: The Owlery WHAT: Chance encounter PG Complete
Entering the Owlery, Logan glanced around to make sure no one was inside - at least no one who knew Jay and would blab to her. Aside from the rustle and soft sounds from the owls, there was silence and Logan grinned to himself, almost rubbing his hands together with glee. He liked giving things to the people he liked and even more, he enjoyed springing happy surprises on them, and he knew Jay would like the dress he'd ordered for her, even if it was something she might never have considered buying for herself.
Checking his watch, he looked up at one of the windows the owls came in. It was about time for the package to arrive if the store followed his instructions to the letter - and just as he thought that, an owl carrying a large box descended.
Once the owl had been sent off with copious amounts of treats to enjoy (and defend from the other owls who were eyeing them keenly), Logan couldn't resist opening his purchase to check everything was there. Satisfied the accessories were included, he set the box down and pulled out the elegant and bold red dress he'd picked out for Jay. She would probably have a fit if he told her how much it cost, but he wasn't planning on letting her know, or at the very least, would be vague on the details. But those considerations weren't important right now, he was too pleased with himself. Holding up the dress to look at it, Logan let out a delighted laugh. "Perfect, just perfect!" he murmured.
The sudden scuff of feet behind him, told the boy he wasn't alone and he swirled - dress still in his hands - to face the intruder.
Asher's eyes widened when he saw Logan Snell standing in the Owlery holding a dress up to himself. The most surprising part might possibly have been how...natural he appeared to look doing it. Maybe it was the delicacy of his bone structure or maybe he'd simply watched Victor/Victoria one too many times.
"New dress?" he finally asked his tone as dry as toast.
There were only a couple of ways to respond to this situation and Logan chose the one that was, well, him. Without a flicker of consternation, he raised his eyebrows and smirked slightly. "Isn't it just a stunner? And just my colour too," he even fluttered his eyelashes and pucked his lips slightly for the full effect, inwardly laughing. He wouldn't do this around someone like Prentiss or Edgar, but Asher always struck him as an easy-going sort and the fact he hadn't shrieked in horror was a good sign there was a sense of humour there.
Because Logan ran with the joke Ash continued on, "I don't know, I always imagined you in something softer. Your colouring isn't quite bold enough for that shade of red."
Asher knew that his sense of humour was slightly off but since he was used to spending time with the likes of Ace Boot and, more recently, taps like Iwan Davies he didn't blink at rolling with the joke. He couldn't help but wonder though if Logan was aware of just how...pretty he looked affecting such a feminine stance.
Logan was well aware he was 'pretty'. He'd long ago realised that he would never be a square-jawed, muscular type and was fine with that, especially as the mirror told him he was beautiful and he was supremely confident in himself - which was part of his appeal. So if he'd been aware of the thought travelling through Asher's mind, he would have just laughed.
As it was, his eyebrows rose again and he unpuckered his lips to smirk slightly as he folded the dress and replaced it in the box. "'Always imagined'?" he repeated in a light teasing tone, tilting his head and taking a couple of steps closer to the other boy. "Now that's a provocative comment, Mr Roberts. Have I been on your mind that much?" the teasing was definitely on the flirtatious side and Logan was curious how far Ash would run with this game.
Maybe it was his namesake or maybe it was the way his mother raised him without any concept of boundaries or maybe it was something latant that was just part of who he was that he'd never noticed before but something kept him rolling with the conversation even though he knew well that they'd long ago crossed the line into flirting territory, "Must be the director in me that sees the characters that everyone is capible of playing. And you, you are certainly able to pull off a gender bender. There aren't many guys who can actually pull off looking like a girl but there's no doubt in my mind that you're one of them."
Logan chuckled softly, well aware there were other boys who would be deeply offended by this statement, whereas it just amused him. He'd never had the inclination to dress up as a girl, but he knew if he was dared to then he would and was sure he could pull it off. "As long as I'm not in red, hm?" the teasing light was still in his eyes and he bit down on the side of his index finger to control the laughter bubbling up inside, a gesture that was unconsciously sexy, bringing attention to his full lips.
Ash gave Logan a quizzical look, "Are you flirting with me, Snell?" he asked. For some reason clarification was suddenly very necessary.
Logan shrugged, letting out another little laugh - clearly trying to contain himself wasn't going to work - and ran his hand through his hair. "What if I am? Are you flustered, Roberts?" he was curious because the other boy had gone along with the game for a lot longer than he expected.
Asher shook his hair out of his eyes, he was going to need to get a haircut soon since he could barely see at this point, "Not flustered, no. I honestly don't know what I am."
Ash was surprised that he'd let that much slip but it was the truth. He'd never really thought about blokes one way or the other. Every crush he'd had to this point had been on girls though he knew that if he were completely honest with himself he'd never totally ruled out experimenting either.
They were close enough that Logan could reach out and brush some of Asher's hair away with a single graceful gesture. He was just as surprised as Ash when the other boy said what he did and it piqued his interest more. Although all his relationships had been with girls, he was aware of noticing some boys in a way that was more than just friendly, but had never acted on that interest since most blokes seemed to be completely straight.
"Interested perhaps?" he asked with a smile that was less teasing and more gentle now, although still with that flirtatious edge as his eyes caught Asher's. "Imagining more?"
Asher shrugged, "I don't know," he answered honestly though he couldn't hide the shiver that danced along his spine when Logan touched him, "I've never, you know," he tried to explain.
Logan understood quite well and there was a slight ruefulness to his expression as he inclined his head in acknowledgement. "Something to think about perhaps," part of him wanted to act on what was proving to be an intriguing encounter, especially considering Asher's reaction to his touch, but he was also conscious that he was currently 'taken', even if the relationship was more friends with benefits than real. With that in mind he turned away immediately after he spoke and picked up the dress box. "But for now, I'll have to leave you with your imaginings," he said, flashing Asher another teasing grin before he stepped past the boy and out of the Owlery.
He glanced back once when he was at the bottom of the stairs, but he couldn't see the Ravenclaw. With a shrug and a shake of his head, Logan continued walking. It would have been interesting to continue their conversation, but it wouldn't be fair to lead the boy on, especially if he was uncertain about his reactions. The best Logan could do right now was keep the encounter between them.
