When the WAQ actives arrive at the Pool House for their regular Sunday meeting, someone's waiting for them. Someone who is not a member of WAQ, in fact: Darian Savage, Headmistress Bloxam's assistant and the man responsible for strewing confusion among the WAQ ranks, reclines on a lounge chair wearing sunglasses (yes, indoors) and says, "There are ten of you. No, I do not know your names, and I do not want to know your names. What I want is to wait until all ten of you arrive before explaining anything."
Once he counts all ten actives as present, Darian stands and paces as he launches into a speech. "I have no intention of ever venturing here again, and I also wish to make it clear I will not be disclosing this location or your password to anyone. In fact, I received the password from a fellow Knight of yours, so don't assume I'm some sort of trespassing snoop. What I am is someone who is trying to save your arse and not because I like you or know you, but because it's the right thing to do. And because ultimately it benefits me.
"Likely you have heard by now that you are all in need of an alibi next Sunday. By--supposedly--no fault of yours, something of an unknown nature will occur and the blame is intended to fall on you. You, as an entity. It'll likely involve hazing, but I couldn't tell you what that would entail. I, very sincerely, have no further information than this, and don't ask me where I got it from, as all I am authorised to tell you is that I have reason to take it seriously. Very seriously. 'Swear on your life and guard your society secrets' seriously. So next Sunday. Do not break any rules. Do not do anything that'll land you in the headmistress's office, or anyone's office, in fact. Unless it's the nurse's office, because that might be a solid alibi."
He takes off his sunglasses to stare at each of the students. "What I, as a very undervalued staff member at this school, need from you is your reassurance that in one week from now, you will not get in trouble, but neither will you hide. You will be seen by staff members, preferably not me because I have my hands more than full and I don't want to see any of you again, but other staff members. Sign out a study room and smile at Mrs Thomas, break your legs, have a nervous breakdown in your Head of House's office, whatever it takes. Just do it, and make it look natural. Because I won't help you if suspicion falls on you."
He checks his watch. "I have five minutes before I have to return to the Headmistress's office. Any questions?"
