:MOD NOTES: Feel free to do as much as you'd like here, if you want to pair off and start a sub-thread, go ahead, just make sure to label it AT THE BALL and IF PEOPLE CAN SEE IT HAPPENING. :) I apologize for it being shorter than I'd like, but I may try and add to it, so keep peeking. And forgive the Owl Post icon. I was too tired to make a ROSE one! :)
The Great Hall had never looked so Grand. In all the years of the Ball, they never made it look so bright and cheerful. It was as if they were trying to outshine the usual drama all schools had with colors and sparkles. The hall was draped with long silk cloths that were various shades of red – ranging from dark red to the light pale pink. The usual house banners were missing – leaving only their house crests emblazoned upon a red hued banner. Candles of pink and red and white hung in the air that danced with a heart shaped flames. The tables strewn around the room were also heart shaped and decked out with a red table cloth with more of the same candles surrounding the centerpiece of roses of red and lilies of white. Valentine's candies were placed in little boxes on the tables – enough for the students and alumni who showed – with little confetti hearts spread under them. There was music drifting through the hall from only Merlin knows what - no one could find the band that was supposedly playing - and it varied between classic Wizarding music and some stuff even Muggles knew and were able to dance to. The refreshments were all Valentine's themed - various punches, strawberries, chocolate, cakes, fruits, etc - they spared no thought on today's theme. The Teachers were paired off and wandering the room, keeping an eye on students AND alumni alike - more than happy to deduct house points or give out detentions on over the top displays or outfits. To many the place was overly sugary, to others it would be perfect - but it was as fun as a school sanctioned event could be. There was even a place, by the doors, to pick up a flower for your girl, or find some special little candy you forgot to get her - or him.
