"Of course," Rick said, watching the young men as they spoke in turn. Though he guessed they were barely out of high school yet, they didn't carry themselves like boys. But there was a hesitation in Scott's voice, and in the way he glanced at his friend--and a defensiveness in Stiles' posture--that told Rick they were still feeling him out. They weren't sure if they could trust him--and Rick was okay with that. He'd learned firsthand that it you shouldn't be too trusting in a world like this.
"I certainly hope no one's been giving you any trouble--but whatever it is, I'll do my best to help work things out."
