“Slightly, though I have to agree that they seem to have deserved it, the little buggers. And in planting season...they should at least know that falling out of trees should be reserved for after harvest, or during the winter. Really what were they thinking?” Laughing, he couldn’t help but remember the four of them as children. Grey and English had always been the leaders with Grey making up stories and English pushing them all to be as daring as they dared to be. He missed her sometimes, but truth be told not as much as he originally had thought he would. Sometimes family needed some distance, and although he loved and cared for his best friend and his brother dearly... they did at times piss him off more than anyone else could.
Family really did bring out the best and worst. Though there was certainly no replacing them. If Grey could have chosen he would have just had them move a couple of farms over instead of a couple of towns over. But that wasn’t his decision to make, and at least he could still visit.
The thought of family did what it seemed to always do now, and that was draw his mind back to Mouse. Looking back to her, his eyes glanced over her features, but this time he couldn’t stop himself from glancing a moment too long at her lips. Before he really even knew what he was doing he had reached over with his near-side hand and had closed the gap between them and was kissing her. His hand had slid into her hair at the back of her head, while his other moved to wrap around her lower back.
