Mungo's Mayhem: Death-Eater Destruction or Herbology Hubris?
It could be both!
By Xenophilius Lovegood, Publisher
Evidence mounts that there is something distinctly lacking from the official story the DMLE and St. Mungo's administration are telling regarding the scores of deaths, injuries, and damage that occurred on Wednesday.
While officials are quick to paint the incident as a simple Death Eater attack, perhaps a continuation of the attack on Madame Potter that was averted at Godric's Hollow last month, there is reason to doubt their hasty conclusion. Witness reports and inspection of the damage to the Plant Damage Ward are not consistent with prior Death Eater attacks. Even the location of the attack is unusual and the simple theory offered by the Ministry poses more questions than it answers.
Was this something the Death Eaters planned? Even though they haven't done anything since You-Know-Who disappeared? Does this mean he's back? Officials are silent on that point, which is foremost in everyone's minds. The attack was different from all previous attacks. It did not take place at the victim's home or other isolated place, there were many witnesses, only one attacker was present, and most tellingly, the Dark Mark did not rise above the crime scene. If this was truly the work of the Death Eaters, have they changed their tactics? Or was their presense incidental, or even imagined by potion-addled victims who were exposed to the halucino-compulsive vapors of a sinister invasive plant species?
Something serious is being hidden from the public and the Quibbler will demand answers until the government comes clean.
Artist's Impression of a Krynoid VictimOne possibility is that this attack was a cover up for a more serious outbreak of deadly plant-based magical maladies at St. Mungo's. If the Herbologists and Potioneers of Mungo's have been experimenting with Krynoid pods, the chaos in the wards could well have been a byproduct of their recklessness.
If there was indeed a Krynoid outbreak in the Plant and Potions Damage Ward, then the deaths of a senior administrator and possibly the very potioneer who conducted experiments on the Krynoids are just the tip of the iceberg. The destruction of the the Plant and Potion Ward is minimal compared to what a mature Krynoid might do to all of London or beyond!
