Rodolphus wants to be in the room where it happens (malvado) wrote in thequest,
In the Gardens: during the concert
Not longer after the concert began, Arlo pulled Rodolphus outside to share a few words. This was neither the time or setting to have any sort of in depth conversations, but apparently Mulciber wanted an update on his progress such as it were. And to be fair as excuses went to miss out on the musical delight that was Warbeck there could be worse.
“Arlo, when have I ever been withholding? Do you not trust me?”
Mulciber sighed, glancing over his shoulder. The man had no tact. “It is not a matter of trust, but need I again press upon you the urgency of my request?”
“It has been taken under advisement, and you of all people should know that good work takes time. I would only ask your patience a little longer.”
“My patience does have limits.”
Rodolphus said nothing, but merely stared at the older man. That was not a comment that merited a response.
“But you are right, you have never disappointed me before. You are so like your father. I do hope that you continue to live up to his regard.”
“Arlo, I am my father’s son, but I am also my own man. Please just give me a few more days.” For better or worse that seemed to appease the older man for now. Or perhaps he was too anxious of their setting. For all that Arlo aspired to be a political he certainly left something to be wanting. “Now, why don’t you got enjoy the concert?”
The pair grasped hands, and Rodolphus saw him off. He was going to have to deal with Arlo sooner than he anticipated. This changed timelines, but not necessarily outcomes. Rodolphus turned around, pulling out a cigarette. He might as well actually make good on his excuses to step outside for a smoke and a bit of fresh air.
