Claire Rookwood (keeps her own counsel); ([info]afterrain) wrote in [info]thequest,
Re: CONCERT
Ollivander's- of which Claire was the main representative at the function, her grandfather not being fond of these things- donated an antique and very lovely and unusual sandalwood wand crafted by Garrick's great-grandfather. The original unicorn hair core gave up the ghost some time ago and the wand itself is too delicate to bear the type of repair required to render it functional again, making it useful as a curiosity or art piece only (hence why the old man is willing to give it up.)

Claire herself bids modestly on a set of Scottish spellbooks donated by Flourish and Blot's and a painting that she fancies. She wins the painting, to her husband's visible but indulgent dismay (he doesn't think it's well-done enough to warrant the price, even for a good cause. Claire says that it's simply not to his taste and quality has nothing to do with it. They both smile while they say it.)
