smoker night 2/2 - last rush event
under "pi kappa alpha" zack rented a ballroom at the franklin street hotel. this goes without saying that attire is formal. shirt and tie, jacket and shirt, khakis, no jeans, nice shoes. that kind of thing. tuxes are probably a little too formal. office casual, perhaps. anyway, zack was there and anyone who wanted to help him set up with some various trophies from the past like "best chapter" and other greek week plaques, certificates, etc. there'd be some sodas in a cooler along with bottles of water. this is just the final day of rush where the guys can make their final attempts to reconnect with some brothers they liked who might pull for them to get a bid and hit up any brothers they might not have had a chance to get to know. the goal is to talk to as many brothers as possible. the main part of the smoker is a quick video showing pi kappa alpha outside of their chapter. the general sense of the organization that isn't specific to any chapter. some of the commentary are by the president, alumni, current brothers, and other various brothers within the organization. all the information was short and sweet talking about their philanthropies, their motto, and what it means to be a pike.
zack was there setting up shop, talking to the brothers and specifically the rushes as they filed in. he's been really nice with them trying to give everyone a fair shot at talking with him. after the whole presentation and him talking, bringing up and alumni speaker from their chapter, he then opened it up for questions. for himself, the alumni guest, or any of the other brothers. once this was all said and done, they moved back out of the student union and a little bit away and distributed cigars/swishers to anyone who chose the smoke. note: this wasn't required and the brothers made sure to emphasize that it's not mandatory and won't impact their vote. it simply part of the obvious smoker. all the guys stood around outside chitchatting one last time, smoking and having a good fancy time before the evening came to an end.
