Conlan nodded at her reasoning to not take the dog with her on the mission, then continued at the question. "He's the only mount I've got, and he's gone on as many missions as I have." He finished placing the saddle and dropped his hand twice against the side of the horse's neck. "Don't think he'd forgive me if I left'm behind."
Sovereign was now arching his neck toward Eirys, completely ignoring his master as the man continued to get him prepared to go out. Finally in the mood for a proper greeting, it seemed. It was odd to Conlan to see the differences between the horse's interactions with men and women, the latter always seeming to get the rarely-seen sugary side of the animal.
"Oh, now you behave," Conlan snorted with amusement, ducking under the horse's neck to get to the other side of the stall. "As far as the mission, he's feisty enough to hold his own for most of it. Otherwise, he'll turn heel and leave us all behind, I'm sure." His tone was dry, but he didn't actually believe Sov would do that. Too stubborn, and with those shoes of his... He thought about bringing that up, but thought better of it for the moment. Maybe he'd have an opportunity to show her on the way to the village.
"Did you bring a horse with you to the forge? You're welcome to load him up if you need to. As I said, I don'need much."
