"I think we need some rain." Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. It was hard to tell anymore. There was always talk about behind in their water, or having too much, or being at the right level. People really needed to make up their mind, or keep better records. Regardless, the rain, and needing it, always proved to be a decent conversation topic.
Abigail gave a smile and a light shrug. "I've heard that before and I'm beginning to believe it. Hate to see my luck if I wasn't." Laughing herself, she crossed her arms, resting her hip against the edge of the table. "I know, right? I keep telling them to try it, but they just don't listen. It's like banoffee pie. No one ever things to mix bananas and toffee into a pie. They're crazy. Crazy, you hear!" Still laughing, the rest of the crew back in the kitchen were also laughing and shaking their heads. The evening shifts were typically heavy hitters, but only during the weekends. The weeknights were usually quiet, but made the shifts seem extra long.
They needed something to keep them occupied, thus the experiments with pie had happened. It had been the most dangerous, yet amazing, thing that had happened since the pie fairy had been invented.
"You'll get it. Practice makes perfect and all that." She tossed another glance at the book before turning her attention back to Steven. "Could I take a peek?"
