Abigail had been lingering. She was almost off shift, but she was not looking forward to. Word of an apparent wolf-like beast roaming about the city didn't make walking home seem very appealing even after a very long day of rushing to and from tables and carrying trays of food. She had been arguing with Aphrodite, stating that she couldn't just not go to work because Aphrodite was afraid of having Abigail mauled to death. That wasn't how things worked. The goddess had made her miss enough work. She was not about to do it again.
The arguing had gone on through most of the day, though Abigail had to fight to ignore the high-pitched whining while she was tending to customers. Yes, she could take the easy way out of her responsibilities and allow Aphrodite to rope her into a relationship with a wealthy man so money would never be an issue. Abigail wasn't like that, and she certainly didn't want handouts of any kind. She wanted to earn it on her own and that was that.
Tonight, though, knowing she had a decent walk between here, the subway station, and from the station to her apartment? Having said sort of lifestyle would have been ideal.
Stopping by Steve's table, she offered a smile. "Can I get you anything else?"
