Steve was silent as she started to go on her rant. Oh, was he ever silent as he watched her. But, in the end, he nodded. “Got an asshole for a boss or something?” he asked. After all ‘not his fault’ usually ended up being family or work. “Still, guy’s gotta be a jerk if he didn’t at least call or something.” A shake of his head was given in thought of that as he considered the options that might have been. It happened sometimes, lord knows it happened to him a few times.
A hand was motioned down the street. “I was going to another shop about a block down. Couple more supplies to pick up.” But when she said she’d break something, he grinned at her and patted his arm. “You need to take a swing at something, feel free. I’m sure I can handle a punch or two.” He winked at her, though he began to walk toward the indicated shop if she didn’t, which he doubted she was going to. “And, you’re not pissed you’re not going to the zoo, Lyds, you’re pissed he’s not taking you. And that’s totally okay.”
Another grin at her as he added, “But feel free to rant. I’m a bartender, I’m used to listening and giving advice, even if it might be bad advice, ‘cause honestly, bartender.”
