When she finally showed about ten minutes late, Juniper was out of breath. She'd hustled from the subway up to the diner as she'd missed the one that she had wanted to make. Life for commuters in New York City all over again. One day she was going to live someplace here she could either own a car (not that she was a huge fan of them as it was) or she wouldn't have to sit next to people who didn't give her wild eyes or inappropriate looks while she was riding. After almost a year of it, she was used to it by now but that didn't mean she liked it. The bigger the city, the creepier the creepers are.
"Hey," she greeted her friend without a wheeze, though her voice was still a little breathless. She really needed to start hitting the gym again, didn't she? "What time do you go in today?"
Juniper wasn't sure how long this particular conversation was going to be and she wasn't sure that she was ready to have it. But if she couldn't talk to Abigail about this, who could she talk to? It was already going to be all kinds of awkward. It was better to get some of this out of the way when the inevitable subject came up and maybe Abi would have some advice for her, now that she'd calmed down enough to take it.
