Dani had been tracking her friend since she pushed in from the cold through the diner's thick glass doors. First thing she noticed had been the frazzled look behind Emmy's normally doe-like eyes; they had always been more on the calm side, even when the woman was upset. Even now, with the biggest situation Dani had heard about hovering over the both of them (how she felt anyway), a part of the day care owner still looked presented and poised. Man, did Dani wish she had that talent.
"...in your purse? Hope you wiped the pee off it." Putting her coffee down on the table, Dani scrunched up her face in a comical manner, hoping to get an easy laugh out of the other woman. Poised or not, it was still a stressful deal. God knew she could use something light with how her last night had gone. It was a miracle she'd gotten any sleep at all.
