He curled his nose at the nickname but laughed. "Gruffalo?" He raised an eyebrow. "Only if I can call you babycakes or boobie bear." He said them in baby talk, teasing. He was almost tempted to toss aside the popcorn and candy before kissing her all over. He only smiled and drifted a kiss along the top of her head.
"I asked. I was rejected repeatedly if I recall correctly." He didn't hold it against her, he didn't even take offense at her actions. "I never kidnapped anyone or you would have been living your life with me in the water." He was partially teasing and partially not.
He was quiet after her comment about income. It suddenly hit him how different things were for them. He didn't think twice about 5,000 dollars unless his father pointed it out or expressed displeasure about an expenditure. Alice made that much money to live on. He ran a hand over her hair and leaned back.
"My father was annoyed that made changes to his staff at the track without approval even though he begrudgingly admitted that it was better now." Jeremiah made a grab for the remote again. "Aha! You have secret comings and goings. I knew there was something off about you. Are you like a super agent spy for the government?" He was being ridiculous, he did NOT want to think about her having other men in her apartment or bed.
