Alice's brows went up, an innocent doe-eyed expression. "Really? Sorry?" She made a face that wasn't entirely repentant. "Jeremiah doesn't- I mean it suits you but- it feels so formal. You are not so formal, not all the time," she told him with a smile. It was meant to be a compliment. "I can stop though." She gave him a small laugh and shook her head. "Of course you know some quaint little cafe. You don't have to do that though, I'm a big girl." And they weren't dating. Even if he was coming to see her 12 hours after they had split from spending an entire week and a half together, to stay the night and have breakfast in the morning. This was bad, wasn't it?
Alice appreciated his ease in her space. She wasn't so sure she would have had the same but then, Jeremiah had a confidence about him- that she had originally mistook for arrogance- that Alice lacked. It was hard to say that she was unconfident as a person, but not like him. He was so assured of everything. She was too busy trying to be PC half the time.
"I thought kidnapping was Hades' gig?" she teased as she settled against him. "We'll stay for a little bit, yeah? Then we can try Memphis again. When I've got more money." She grabbed up a handful of the popcorn and began munching. "Is it all work?" she asked, looking up at him. It was weird to have their real lives suddenly be a part of this. Things were different on vacation and she wasn't looking forward to what the real world would do to their arrangement.
"For me it's weird that you're all of the way in Manhattan instead of just- down the hallway or whatever. Not that Manhattan is really all that far..." It was admitting a lot, for her, but she figured he was doing the same- or something similar.
