Alice felt as if every muscle in her body were tensing further and further. She had no desire to run or fight him away from her- though she certainly thought she ought to- but she was scared. There was no other way to describe it. Her heart was pounding, her eyes wide, her body on the defense.
"Prove it to me?! That you're a god, Jeremy? Are you listening to yourself?" There was a voice at the back of her mind whispering that he already had proven it. The way the water behaved around him-- it wasn't right and she'd been trying to explain it away...
As his demeanor shifted she noticed, she couldn't put her finger on it, other than the look in his eye, but it wasn't the first time she'd seen a change in him like this. Her own jaw lifted slightly. "I am not-" she swallowed hard, not able to get the denial out of her lips, though she wasn't backing down either. Her eyes were trained on his, stormy and dark and familiar as the wheat in the fields.
