Alice wasn't really one for long showers and after her morning in bed she was buzzing with energy. It reminded her of the sort of energy she had after those dreams, only this time, she was rested and felt great. Of course there was the mental diatribe running in the back of her mind- she had said she wouldn't sleep with him, over and over again, and it only took a couple of weeks (okay and a trip across country, she reminded herself), she was getting too attached too quickly and things would be all messed up when they got back to the city, the usual logic bits. But it didn't seem to matter how many logical arguments she came up with, she was following her- what? heart? not exactly...- she was following something. And enjoying herself.
The feeling of intoxication had creeped up on her again, though less so this time. What was worrisome was the knowledge that she certainly hadn't been drinking this early in the morning. The wine with dinner had been easy enough to explain away last time. Alice wasn't going to admit to the sensation though- she had no idea how it would be interpreted, after all, and didn't want to send the wrong message. She wasn't a dependent, fall-hard, kind of girl. The shower helped wash some of that feeling out of her system, luckily.
After her shower and packing she opened up her laptop. Despite how nice it was to get away, she still missed her friends and felt like she was missing everything in the city- life moved so much faster there. The network helped.
Most of the time.
When Alice heard the knock she just stared at her door for a moment. Her heart was pounding and the energy had turned to anxiety. Lucia told her to follow her instincts with him but Lucia was apparently just as cracked as Jeremiah was. How was that even possible? She'd know Lucy for years.
She crossed to the door and yanked it open, her eyes wide and her body tense. "That sounds like a really bad reason to open up," she told him even as she was letting him into her room. She glanced down the hallway but his half-dressed self didn't seem to draw any attention.
"Tell me this is a game, Jeremiah. Tell me that you have a really large network of roleplayers and some how I just got included on the privacy settings because of- this trip or something." Her voice was strong, nearly demanding, and on the edge of flying off into a rant.
