He stopped when she stepped in front of him and glared at him. Thoth, however, just arched an eyebrow in return. The God was the epitome of balance since the creation of time, and getting him over those edges was always one of the most difficult things for anyone ever to accomplish. He waited for her to finish before he linked his hands behind his back. “I can help you adjust. I know of no way short of you dying to remove the god-soul from a vessel. And whether you want to admit it or not, she has always been there, nudging you in directions even if she was not consciously aware of what she was doing. I have been awakened within Samuel for more than twenty five years. You will find a balance, Imogen.” He said softly.
“Yes, I mislead you. I take full responsibility for that. But blame me for that, not Samuel, not Lucia, not even Ma’at. It was my choice. But you are wrong as to why I made it.” A slight tilt of his head as he considered her for another moment. “I did not choose to awaken Seshet solely because she was my wife. Things are shifting in this world, and it will only be a matter of time before danger hits it. It has already been done. The riot in Queens not too long ago was caused by one of us going on a little rampage. As more of us awaken, the more dangerous it’ll become for those unaware or unawake. I found a spell that could awaken the soul spirit within a vessel and made the choice to test it. That it backfired and put you in this mess, for that I apologize. But you also have to understand it only sped the process up, didn’t cause it.”
He took a slow deep breath. “But, she is not a parasite, Imogen. She has been with you since you were born. She just was not aware enough to speak to you as she was now. But, you have always felt her urgings. Anytime you had a sudden interest in something, that was her nudge. Anytime her felt an instant connection with someone, it was likely because she recognized something. We can help you adjust, help you come to terms with Seshet, terms you both can live with. But, you have to trust me, and the others. Your family will be watched over, because they are now our family and we watch over our family.”
“And I did not come forward earlier, because, let us be honest, would you have listened to anything I had to say before now? You can lie to me about that, but don’t lie to yourself.”
