“Well, if you do get that drunk off of me, stick by the bar. I’ll make sure nobody else takes you home.” Steve was all grin as he watched her. “Be right back.” He said before he stepped off to the side to deal with a few of the customers that were threatening to overwhelm his partner. After a couple of minutes of that, he would return back to her. He leaned against the bar, his arms spread out to support him as he smiled at her.
“Let me know when you want another. And what you would like it to be like. Whenever you’re ready, of course.” He said in an easy voice.
“I grew up in Queens. Lots of bad decisions happening there. If I can keep a couple of kids from getting messed up, I’ve done well.” And earned his own reprieve. But, as he said that, he shrugged his shoulders and dismissed it easily enough. “What do you do for a living?”
