Who: Athena and Hnossa [Lucas and Jean-Sebastien] What: Lucas is working late, again, and heading downstairs for a break. Where: The NYPL; general collections When: Monday, February 13th; afternoon Warnings: General awkwardness and possibly hilarity
Even Lucas admitted that he had to eat. He'd been distracted with the translations of the latest shipment from Assyria and it had been more than enough to keep him late in the Collection every night for the last week. It also meant that he'd been remiss in catching up on at least two outings with his friends (which would probably come back to haunt him later on, as he'd be guilted into staying out way too later to make up for it) but for the moment, he wasn't that worried. It hadn't gotten that late this afternoon before he'd finally started to wander down to find something to eat. At least he'd remembered to do so, even if it had taken a friendly text to remind him. Work was important. And, more importantly, interesting. He needed that to keep him occupied. Any intellectual challenge was always a thrill.
Admittedly, he could have been paying more attention and not spending his time shuffling through the stack of papers on his way through the main floor, watching everything but the world around him. That probably explained how he ended up smacking into another person before he actually made it out of the building. Honestly, he was lucky to get off his floor before it happened.
Lucas ended up staggering backwards with the first bump, knocking his papers out of his arms and nearly bowling himself over in the process.
"Oh." He blinked at first, trying to grab the stack of depositions that needed to be filed properly instead of in his portfolio. Once he'd snagged a handful of them (smoothing the wrinkles out hurriedly), he tried to figure out what - or in this case who - he'd just smacked into. "Sorry! Didn't see you there." The apology was a little rushed and his glasses were just a little crooked. It probably wasn't the best introduction he could offer, or the best apology for that matter, but it was pretty sincere.
