WHO Cora/Hera & Tara/Zeus
WHEN 5 June 2012 | near dinner time
WHERE Tara's apartment
WHAT She still hasn't official moved in, but it's pretty close.

She had a bare foot curled under her as she had spread out her data and proposals for her research, attempting to get it ready for both the IRB and to take to Ethan (Odin); she had been so busy with other things that she had not had time to get as organized as she had previously hoped. Her main concern was trying to find another psychologist to work with her, only the nature of the work made it difficult. Cora was more then aware of how the god-vessel situation sounded and even proving it by using some of her power could backfire quite spectacularly. It was a very sensitive line she walked.

Picking up one of the files, pushing another one aside to grab up another and lay it beside her, her legs uncrossed and she bent them to pull the coffee table a slight closer to rest her feet on it comfortably. Somewhere in the back of her mind she knew she needed to make dinner, but she was so absorbed in the things in front of her they took precedence.

In fact, she had a file in her grasp as she stood up, pulling her shorts down unconsciously as she walked to the kitchen, eyes still scanning the papers as she opened the fridge to pull out a bottle of water, closing it with her hip as she went to pad back to the couch, attempting to open the water with one hand (and failing miserably).

Tara was getting a little bit restless, truth be told. She wasn't too big on sitting around and doing nothing, but she couldn't very well go on TV with a cast like hers, so here she was, driving herself crazy in her apartment. Her head, at least, was now fine, and her bruises were healed ,so she just had to wait on everything else to finish up healing. Like her fucking fractured-ass arm. Grumpy? Just a bit.

And getting hungry, again, so she'd pop out of her bedroom to see if that was happening. And when she realized it wasn't - work - she sighed a little bit. "You want me to call Demeter again and ask if she'd bring over some food?"

Again, not that she'd mentioned it to Hera or Cora previously, and she'd eye the papers. "What is this?"

Hera took a moment to even respond, here eyes focused on finishing the paragraph she was on, the "hm?" was even sort of distracted until she looked up. "Demeter was over?" Her brows furrowed though she didn't say anything beyond that, after all, it had been a long time ago, and Demeter seemed completely involved in Poseidon.

After a second she realized what Zeus had said, beyond Demeter's appearance and shook her head. "Oh, no. Let me just....pick this up...What would you like?" She was getting used to having to cook simply because take out over and over was getting really boring.

Walking to the couch, she began to gather things into her arms, and yet, still extremely particularly to what was getting put where. "Research, or hopefully research. I've been working on it with Odin to try and set up a clinic for god-souls." Pulling them to her chest she looked to Zeus and smiled softly, "how are you feeling?"

A glitter of something slightly dark. "Yes, I called her over." The distraction didn't please either Tara - restless with being couped up - or Zeus, who was just a spoiled brat. "I can do it." Was Tara, at least, being not entirely bratty, because she could cook as well, but it was Zeus who shot Hera a look. "Odin? You've been meeting with him?" Deceptively mild.

"I'm fine." Was a bit flatter, both of them. Already setting up the cutting board and looking for vegetables. Stirfry was easy. So she was working with Odin and...hadn't mentioned anything about it. Well, Odin had lost his own Queen, after all. Had to go about poaching other people's. A curmedgeonly thought, but one that Zeus didn't bother trying to quash.

"Oh." Cora didn't see the problem, but Hera, watching Zeus felt her expression flatten out though she didn't say anything. She was holding the files a little tighter however. "He is the financial backer. Well, one of them."

As he walked into the kitchen, however, Hera followed, putting the stack down and after watching him for a moment moved to put a hand on his back, "Let me, I am sorry I got distracted. What do you want?" She leaned in to softly kiss his cheek.

"So you report to him." And he liked that even less. "He's your boss?" Tense, maybe, or at least tense enough that he leaned away from the hand, and then turned on her. "I'll make it. It is fine. I'll at least chop things, I'm not useless." Grumpity grump grump, but he would carefully begin chopping things. "You can continue working if you need to." A little frown. "What will the clinics be for, anyway?"

A red herring thrown out to distract her.

Hera looked at him long ways for a long moment, "no, he's a financial backer. I am- or will be- the lead investigator on the project. I am merely updating him because it's polite." Hera was nearly frowning as Zeus moved away from her grasp. "I need the break." She stepped back for a moment and tried to smile softly, "what can I do to help?"

And then with an internal sigh she moved to lean slightly on the counter, "to help mortals and god-souls to better accept one another. So many of us speak of not being able to reach a balance, I want to work and change that."

Why was he so weak for Hera. Really, he was ridiculously weak for her, and he knew it, so when she smiled softly, he surrendered. "Maybe begin to chop the garlic and ginger?" But he was still for a moment as he watched her lean. "So it'll be for those who fight with their god soul - or vice versa? Who do you think will come to you for this kind of counseling?" Genuinely asking, not being sarcastic or hard.

"Is this for newly discovered, or those we already know to help them reach peace, or both?"

She watched him for a long moment before nodding, moving around him, hand gently grazing again over his back before getting her own utensils to begin to help.

"For both. I think in many ways we all have been lucky; no one has been mentally harmed by the juncture. Frustrated and in some cases angry, but not psychologically damaged. I worry that will not always remain the case." And she was serious about that; she had been 7 when their souls had begun to meld and she'd been alone. It had only been Hera's presence as they began to see a psychologist themselves that kept the poor girl from being institutionalized. Hera and Cora did not want to see that possibly happen ever again.

She was silent then, her hands focused on what she was doing, and old memories running through her head. The question came out of her control, or at least she had not meant to verbalize it even if it had settled in her mind. "How did you awaken? For all I know of my own, maybe mine was just over traumatic from the norm."

"But how will you identify these god souls when they first emerge so they can receive treatment?" A pause. "I awakened in highschool, directly after I lost my virginity. That wasn't awkward at all, let me tell you." A shrug though - she'd been old enough to handle it, old enough to know that if she told anyone they would assume she was entirely insane.

She finished and began to heat up a pan, already sticking vegetables in. Moving along steadily and not lingering on her thoughts about how she'd awakened or her virginity.

A slow sigh. "You think it'll be good? How open is your research going to be?"

"Snowball sampling. The networks are a good start, word of mouth. There is little else I can do to find them, it's a unique situation." She did wish there was an easier way, but the fact was, their condition--to anyone else would seem like a mental illness, it was hard to think otherwise, she knew. Cora still struggled and she had been 7.

Her head spun around, however at the words, staring and giving a small little grin, affectionate as she moved, going to hand the cut garlic to him, kissing his cheek, lingering. "That seems in direct opposition of not awkward." Her arm moved to wrap around the thin waist and scooted a bit closer, chin going to rest on his shoulder, "it will be confidential. It is for the good of the gods that see me, no one else."

"I don't know what that means. Snowballs, I get, but attach another word to it and I'm lost." A shrug and then sighed. "If we held true power, if there were more of us, we could push testing for it - but the problem is that people awaken at such different times, and it looks as if with death they wake again in another." A deep breath, but she blinked at the kiss. "It was quite awkward. Zeus was more into the boy than I was." A roll of her eyes and then she leaned back into Hera.

"You will do all the work yourself? Then it won't be able to grow. You'll need to find other therapists to help you, although that could be difficult." Already thinking on a large scale.
