If Lucia knew he had a cat, it would seal the deal. She adored cats but her grandmother didn't. Lucia secretly fed the stray that had wandered up onto the fire escape one day and tried to avoid her grandmother ever knowing it was outside the living room on the window.
"It's even more mystical when you walk in those places. See the ruins of the great kingdoms. The Nile." Had to hear the goddess in your head talking about the way it had looked before. "The pyramids, the tombs. The temples." Lucia smiled and tried not to go off on a tangent about how exciting it was.
She relaxed, going with the moment as she wrapped her hand around his. "I went to NYU, I have been shopping near here but never on campus." She followed his lead at first not even paying attention to the fact that Ma'at had suddenly rose inside of her and was staring at Reed.
It was typical Ma'at, always picking apart the strands of mortal souls. Looking at their secrets if she could. Without her full power, she was limited. Lucia tried to dismiss her, smiling and returning her attention to Reed. Pay attention. the goddess demanded, pushing Lucia back a little. He's.. off. Lucia resisted rolling her eyes and instead looked down at the ground. She waited, knowing well enough that pushing back was pointless and arguing would only make her look like a lunatic.
"I get lost all the time anyway. New York is a million times larger than where I grew up. Population 3,000." Lucia was ignoring ma'at. When the goddess determined what was off, she would tell her. He feels like a vessel. His soul.. there is something going on. Ma'at retreated again to figure out the puzzle and Lucia looked up at Reed. No way. He was just a friendly stranger. Ma'at was delusional.
