Neptune was in control now so that Reed could rest. His soul was wracked with guilt. He could only remain in control for so long before he needed a break. Neptune was contemplating some rest as well, and his eyes had drifted shut when he heard a soft voice and felt a hand upon his knee. He was fully alert in an instant.
Because Ciaran was sleeping, Neptune put a finger to his lips to keep Bast from saying another word. He then motioned toward the door and got up, urging her to follow him down the hall where he found a row of chairs against the wall. "Join me," he said softly, gesturing that she should sit, and he joined her a second later. "Thank you for your kind words."
He looked to the two cups of tea and took one in two hands, allowing the hot liquid inside to warm his palms. It was a soothing sort of heat. "Ciaran will survive. For that, I am grateful." He truly was. Neptune didn't wish Ciaran or Reed any harm. It was only now that Reed could see that for himself. He'd had his doubts about Neptune, but after seeing the way the god responded to the accident and Ciaran's near death experience, Reed could see that the god wasn't vengeful. He was an ass, yeah, but Reed had a better understanding of the dude now.
