"I know he's a person!" Neptune shouted, though it was as though Reed was the one making him say it. "He is everything to me. And I do all I can to make him happy." Reed had made mistakes, but he'd always tried to act in Ciaran's best interest. "You see is faults and think he should be sheltered. That is no way to live."
But Mari's words made Neptune stop. Reed wanted to interject, but the god didn't allow it. He walked out of the room. He couldn't bear a moment longer with the foolish mortals. Go back in there and apologize, Reed demanded. Neptune shook his head in refusal and paced the hallway instead.
