Reed ignored her first question. She was right, Ciaran wouldn't want Reed to beat himself up over this, but he was going to regardless. As Ciaran's guardian, Reed really was responsible for all that happened to his brother. How could he not feel guilty?
"He'll want me. I have to be there when he wakes up." Ciaran would be scared if Reed wasn't the first person he saw. "He's autistic. He might have a panic attack if I'm not there, and he could hurt himself." Reed's eyes were pleading. He needed the nurse to understand. "I can't leave him."
