Maybe he wasn't the only one feeling nostalgic. A terrible movie, greasy food and a sugar crash on one of their birthdays was just like old times. Anye and him wrapped up in blankets far nicer than any he had at his house, staying up late to watch scary movies her parents normally cautioned against. It would be nice, probably - definitely. But he was exhausted as usual, probably wouldn't even make it halfway through the movie, especially with her curled up against him.
"Never." He returned with a smile before he scratched the back of his neck and took a sip of his milk shake, "I was just gonna make sure you got home safe. You're tired." It was a weak excuse and they both knew it, and it was just as silly for him to still escort her everytime he spent time with her. The instinct that he had to protect her was still ever present even though he knew what she was capable of now, and it directly clashed with the feelings that stirred when she licked ice cream off her hand. The latter at least, he was used to shoving down.
