"Don't sweat it Sue, it's not like it's bad news. That and I can't text very well. Something about small buttons." Ben cut his slice in half and put the other piece on a third plate hearing Sue approaching. "Yeah, she'll be proud of that. She'll probably get the family reunion pushed forward when she finds out you're back. I heard someone say that a flyin' cucumber landed on our roof and something that weird could only mean that you're back."
Seeing that Sue was about to leave he got up and grabbed a third chair. "Yeah, c'mon and have a seat. It's been over a year since we got to sit down and eat like a family. And no buts. The world has enough of those already."
The doorbell rang and Ben went to go get the dinner he'd ordered on his way home. Pasta, pizza, salad, breadsticks and sauce. When you were famous, people who didn't normally deliver were a lot more likely to deliver. The ding at the elevator not far from where the table was set up meant Ben was back with dinner. He'd been buying dinner often while Reed was gone and every time he did he bought for his missing friend never giving up hope that he'd come back.
"Dinner is served. Let's dig in before Johnny gets here, I already stuck his in the fridge." With a beaming grin he sat down and started handing out dinner plates figuring everyone would wait on the cheesecake until dessert. Aunt Petunia would have smacked Ben for giving Reed sugar first especially when he was practically starving!
