Luke heard a thump up on the roof and he came outside to see what the commotion was all about. He was exhausted and had been on his feet for three days straight. He came up, walked past them during the short break in their sparring, yawned as he dragged his feet with the shuffle of an old man in house slippers to the satellite dish. He adjusted it and it ended up breaking. He stood there for a moment before slowly turning around and sluggishly moving towards the door.
When he got to the door he fell asleep standing up and leaned against the door and slowly slid down the cold metal door before winding up face down on the asphalt of the rooftop. He'd been fighting sleep but in the end sleep won.
The snoring was somewhat loud because of the way the New York skyline tended to bounce sounds and make them louder. He was talking in his sleep.
"Jessica... I'm here for you..." And with that he was down for the count. Luke kept one of the rooms in the building as where he slept when work got hectic. He'd set up rooms for everyone like that. The Mayor had agreed to reserve the whole building for Heroes for Hire as part of the negotiations Luke made the eight story building belonged to the team and was tax free. Luke voluntarily took a cut in his share of the money they'd earned so that the team would have a permanent base and got metahuman damage insurance added to their policy. The building was set up where an entire floor was dedicated to each member of the team for whatever they wanted to use them for. Luke built a gym and training room in the basement and the team could set up their floors any way they wanted. He'd asked that the top floor be his, his room was on the roof like a greenhouse.
They could fight to their hearts content. He was in a deep sleep and not even the loud whistle of a nearby freight train phased him.
