The petite blonde gave out a heavy whimper as she fought back the tears filling up her blue eyes. A few days ago, the humans started attacking mutants, Sally never knew much about what was going on outside the abandoned warehouse she had called her refuge for months now, but when that day came she knew all about it. People were shouting in the streets, fighting and worst of all they brought it into her 'sanctum', she tried her best to hide but the bloodthirsty humans found her. They had tried to grab her and throw object but Sally's ability protected her and she made a break for it.
Sally just ran and ran till she could barely make it into another hideout. She was dirty from her days in the warehouse and sobbing uncontrollably, Sally knew she wasn't accepted because of her outward appearance but this was the first time she came in contact with hostile people since her father attempted to hit her after he brutally beat her mother. The thought of being hit or worse always gave Sally a fear that nothing could fix.
It had been a few days and it sounded like the attack had stopped, but the young blonde did not dare show her face, she staying in her hideout and every night the visions of the night of the attack, as well as her mother's death raced through her mind. Sally felt utterly alone and the nightmares she woke up from, gave her trimmers.
This night was no different, waking up on the cold ground, though she couldn't feel the coldness, shaking and holding back tears. Sally pretended to be strong on the outside but on the inside she was breaking. She wiped away her tears and covered her mouth to silence her cries as she sat up. Her force field the only source of light in this dark place, she tucked her knees in her chest and let out another heavy whimper before wiping the last escaping tear from her eyes.
