The announcement over the television and radio, of some mad person saying he was going to kill the human race and start Armageddon, couldn’t really have come at a worse time. Proteus was still getting used to the idea of this new Universe and his potential role it in when the attack started. He certainly didn’t feel like he could defend the entire city of San Francisco on his own, though he could possibly save some lives.
He was resting in his hotel room when the attack began, and he realized this really was happening. The choice was to act or hide, but he knew what any self respecting hero would choose in this situation. So he shifted his form into a monster of his own, with armored flesh, enhanced strength, some claws and other natural weapons. In moments the form was complete to his satisfaction. Proteus then jumped out his window, ten stories up, landing without harming himself in the slightest. It wasn’t long before he found where the monsters were attacking.
He fought the creatures, and while they were strong, he was stronger, and more vicious. People ran from Proteus also since he was so monstrous at the moment, but so much the better. He was trying to save lives, put a stop to this attack. Yet the creatures kept coming.
Then Proteus spotted other’s putting up a fight against these beasts. He fought through a few of the beasts and made his way there. Is that the Thing I hear?! Fantastic!. It wasn’t the X-Men, but they were heroes he at least was aware of. Still he reminded himself they didn’t know him and they may not be identical to the Four he knew. After all, he wasn’t seeing Mr. Fantastic on the scene.
Proteus approached the scene, a demonic looking monster, but he quickly assumed a smaller, less threatening form, in a black armored costume. He saw Namor calling out to the Thing and Sue Storm making her way towards the missile spilling out more of those monsters. Not the best way to introduce himself, but what choice did he have.
