Melissa hated being on the run sometimes, but she knew it was one of those things she would just have to get used to. She wouldn't complain, because it was a small price to pay for the mistakes she had made in her life. The motels weren't really all that bad; she had free cable and most people avoided her since she scared them. She laid back on the bed and watched the infomercial that was playing on the screen.
After another hour of staring at it she got a little frustrated and turned it off. She climbed off the bed and walked out of the door. She was heading towards the ice machine when she saw some jerk bullying this little kid. The jerk stole the kids skateboard; she almost walked away, but then she heard the little kid start to cry and she got angry. She just couldn't make herself walk away now. She turned back towards the two of them. "You might want to give that back to him" was the only thing she said. "NOW" she added firmly. The guy just looked at her with fear in his eyes. He walked back to the kid and handed him to the skateboard. She assumed that would be the end of it, but then the kid rushed over to where she was standing. 'Thank you'.
Melissa smiled down at the child and said "You are welcome sweetie....now you rush on back home" was the last thing she said before heading over to the ice machine.
