Ben wasn't pleased with Reed's answer and it showed in the tensing of his stone skin and the glare he was shooting could give Ronan a reason to hesitate! "You're more like a stone than I am. I won't support something that I feel is wrong and no amount of scientific crap is going to change my mind. Or maybe you've forgotten what those sanctioned thugs did ta me if ya even noticed at all!" He brought his fist down on the table cracking it down the middle but luckily it didn't completely snap in half.
He got up and walked towards the door grabbing his trenchcoat and hat. "I know you'd do what's right by your people Namor. Good to know that you got a backbone, unlike someone I know." He took his Fantasticomm and put it on the counter and started to leave. "Don't bother lookin for me, you won't find me. And if you register Reed that goes double for you! Because if you come after me with that register or prison garbage, ya can consider yourself clobbered and dead ta me!" Ben walked out, slammed the door (and broke it) and flagged a taxi and left.
If registration happened and things went to hell like Ben anticipated, would he even have a home to return to? The way he saw it was that he'd be either missed or replaced, he didn't trust Reed to not already be looking for a replacement. He thought to himself 'Guess I'm gonna be a rollin' stone. I bet Matchstick would be havin' a ball with that one. At least I got to have one last meal with my family." On the key rack next to the door Ben left Johnny, Sue and Namor a little note saying
"Thanks for the good breakfast, it really was amazing. I'm sorry but I think going underground is the best idea considering the condition I'm in. Ain't strong enough to fight em' so clobber as many of em' as ya can for me. Ya guys are my family, even knothead so don't go gettin' yourselves killed. Take care of Alicia while I'm gone, I don't wanna risk her gettin' hurt on account of me. Be happy, be healthy and above all be safe. Yours Truly, Benjamin J. Grimm."
