Ben smelled Sue's cooking so he got out of bed and headed for the kitchen, torso bandaged where necessary and healing well. He had a dent in his shoulder about three inches deep and as big as a fist but it was a lot worse when Johnny found him.
Finally arriving he heard Sue's frustration and chimed in once an opening presented itself. "For a genius Stretch ain't that smart when it comes to things other than science. He sees equations but often loses sight of the human element. The human spirit will always be hardwired ta fight oppression and no calculations can justify not tryin'."
Slowly sitting down Ben looked at the two of them and thought of ways to help them feel better. "Susie ya make the best pancakes, me and Aunt Petunia were talking on the phone last night and she said so too. We should be getting a couple cheesecakes some time this week, she's sending all of us one but I say we split Reed's. It'd be 'just desserts'." Ben thought some humor would help them feel better and he'd gotten himself laughing.
