Okay, that definitely hurt. A lot. She didn't even groan at the kick because she was out of breath. Thankfully Scott made short work out of some of the creatures and came to help her up. Shaking her head to clear it, her voice came out a bit hoarse. "Apocalypse. It's Apocalypse keeping a reign on him. Luckily, not fully manifested yet."
She could still feel the struggle Alex was going through and the fact that he kept switching, trying to drive a wedge and then crying for help, didn't help. She grit her teeth but didn't just yet let go of Scott's arm. She needed him to know she was serious. "We aren't killing him. I'll get him back if I have to pull Apocalypse out piece by piece."
With a frown she looked at Lorna. She really h ad been gone awhile, this was a special case, but in the future, she would have to go through briefings again before she could do any team work again. "Logan is out cold. He's safe for now, but he'll recover, he took a hell of a hit. Telepaths can read minds, can project into minds. I don't know what you've heard about my power surges but I do not suck the life energy out of people." She bit off. Rolling her neck she pushed the hair from her face and stared at Alex, this time, she would avoid the flying problem. "Just, let me concentrate. Even if he comes out of it, don't interrupt." Jean muttered.
Apocalypse would be expecting her this time and so it was harder to find any link and get into Alex's mind.
