It was taking everything she had to try and push through to Alex, to stop this thing from destroying him. She had to trust her team, that they were doing what they could just as they had to trust her. Silly really, she knew, she knew she wasn't trusted. So she shouldn't have been shocked when all her concentration was suddenly jarred by the plea.
In truth, she wasn't sure how she heard it. She had no link to Lorna, and just thinking loudly wasn't the easiest way to get in touch with a telepath. Especially one that was concentrating on a single mind with razor sharpness. Considering she was tapping into the Phoenix maybe that was why she heard her, though of course the backlash from so much power should have incinerated Lorna's mind.
Snapping away from Alex mentally she faltered in the air and fell. Hitting the ground hard she rolled over and tried to catch her breath. With a groan she snapped Lorna's mind to the last thread of Alex's. "I'm sorry." Looked like she had failed again. Maybe there was a reason she couldn't be trusted. Tasting blood she rolled to her side and curled up on the ground, eyes closed while she tried to will away the pain and get up again.
