"I kinda wish my room at the school had a skylight. That'd help me not feel boxed in." He wasn't quite as claustrophobic as Storm but telling someone this was a big step for James and indicated the level of trust he had for Rogue.
"I'm glad you came to check on me. It means a lot to me." Eating a piece of jerky he sifted through his bag and took out some spices and salt along with an odd wooden container. "I press the meat in weird boxes like this, removes the air and makes drying it out easy even in this kinda weather. It's kinda like an accordion and they can be seasoned at the same time." Not a conventional method but he thought it was clever since he'd come up with it himself.
"You can make jerky from lots of different animals. This is deer jerky and I've got a huge supply of bear jerky that's almost ready." He buried a cache of the special boxes by a nearby tree so scavengers wouldn't get into them.
