Jessica looked over at Adrian, unphased by the bitter sarcasm. "Well get used to it. Some conservative lobbyist is pushing that having any kind rap sheet means instant-collaring. They're just deciding if school records should be counted into it. As for us, they are comparing it to tagging ballistic missiles."
She rolled her eyes, incapable of believing the two of them were actually trying to undermine or investigate. "Really? You think if any of our kind finds dirt on him or whoever's behind this, it's going to do bloody anything? They'll expect us to protest and claim foul play and it'll be completely ignored by the people in power. No one trusts us anyway, why make it worse by looking like conspiracy nuts?" Looking back at Adrian as he rummaged in files, she shook her head. "Sounds like you answered your own question. Fury's the one that has access to the files and he just fucking vanishes while this shit hits the fan, leaves us hanging with the ropes around our necks. Sounds like a pretty easy trail to follow."
