He didn't know what her reaction would be, but he wasn't willing to move his gaze away from his hands to find out. It had been a while since he'd been that open and honest with someone, and even longer since he'd been willing to look and sound that vulnerable. He wasn't afraid to look at her, and yet a part of him was. Ever since his parents' death, Robbie had been strong and unshakeable -- for Gabe, for their broken family, even through all the trauma with their tío. But that was all gone now, lost when he'd been brought here instead of Hell, and all that remained was him and Daisy. She didn't need anyone to protect her; she wasn't weak and helpless. She was a SHIELD agent and an Inhuman. He didn't need to be always the strong one anymore. And when Robbie felt her slightly cold hands touch his face, he knew that he wouldn't be able to keep looking away. He turned to look at her, even while her hands guided his face in the same direction. His eyes focused on her face, his own still marred with the emotions he couldn't overcome, while he waited for her to talk. Her simple statement made his eyebrows rise and his mouth open, but he didn't get a chance to say anything because she kissed him -- and he forgot everything else. All that mattered right now was her. |
