He didn't wait to see the pieces of his last victim slump to the ground, instead turning his attention toward more of the affected people as they approached him. The amount coming from inside the hotel hadn't lessened; if anything, there were more than before -- as if the fighting had attracted them out. It did not change his purpose; he would remove the guilty and leave the innocent. But he didn't have a chance to attack another target. A sudden blast of energy knocked him backwards, making him fly across the open space and slam into a vehicle. The metal buckled under the force, folding inward and crumbling behind his back. His attention focused on the source; the empty pits of his eyes zeroed in on the young woman in black, narrowing sharply. He remembered her. He had judged her, and found her penitent. But now she was attempting to stop him, and that would never end well. Flexing the chain in his hand, he swung it around his chest twice and secured it, then pushed himself off the wrecked vehicle. While most of his attention was now focused on her, he hadn't forgotten about the continuous stream of people from the hotel. He pressed his hand into the vehicle, imbuing it with fire, then took hold of it with both hands. Lifting it off the ground, he hurled it in the direction of both the young woman and the approaching people with immense force, creating a field of debris and flames between the two. He was quick on the heels of the vehicle he'd thrown, following its path to the young woman. Picking up a large piece of debris, he re-imbued it with fire and swung it at the young woman like a weapon, determined to get her out of the way so that he could return to judging the guilty. |
