WHO: Jyn Erso & Cassian Andor WHAT: Freaking each other out WHEN: June 10th WHERE: Cassian's Room RATING | STATUS: Low | In-progress
It wasn't noticeable at first, not in her room or in the elevator. Not even in the lobby, which tends to be busy during the mornings. No, the buzz isn't noticeable until Jyn's getting food. It's faint like the hum of an air conditioner at first, just at the edge of her awareness but not anything she feels she should be alarmed about. Although she's not feeling normal, the fact she's even alive is proof normal doesn't exist here. But there's still something off, some kind of disconnect she can't put her finger on.
When she sits down the buzz is considerably louder, but she's doing her best to ignore it. In an effort to distract herself she sends Cassian a message and tries desperately to keep her composure. Her food remains largely untouched but she spears a piece of fruit and chews halfheartedly to try distract herself.
Something is different. Something is wrong and the longer she sits the more she feels it's true. The buzzing grows louder and the louder it gets, the more Jyn begins to give into the panic because it's not just a buzzing anymore. She can hear words now, snippets of sentences and the more she hears, the more her breathing beings to catch. Some words are louder, making her twitch. Others softer, but firm and unnerving. Her is racing as she tries to block her ears, trying to shut out the noise by blocking off her other senses but still the incessant noise continues.
It's not until she slams her hands on the table and makes eye contact with someone does her panic reach a fever pitch when she hears clearly what the person in front of her is thinking. It's undeniable, the way their brow furrows and eyes flash in concern. 'What's wrong with her?'
Jyn jumps up, chair clattering loudly behind her as she runs through the crowded dining hall. The distance doesn't make a difference at first, Jyn can still hear the clash of thoughts as she runs toward the elevator. It takes the elevator ride up to her and Cassian's floor for the voices to abate. It's quick though, the sound disappearing faster than it came and Jyn's left wondering if she hadn't imagined the whole thing by the time she's knocking on Cassian's door. She's still rattled, shaken by the sudden and intense experience.
