WHEN: May 15; afternoon
WHERE: Mandalay Hotel
RATING|STATUS: TBD | In progress
One minute Octavia was walking down a hall, away from her friends and the man she'd just killed, the next she was waking up abruptly in a strange bed. The first thing she did was check for her sword, which was still on her back, and that eased a small bit of the adrenaline coursing through her body. The view out the large window led her to believe she was still on Earth, but...it was far too clean, too bright, like the buildings were new and hadn't been rotting and being grown-over for 97 years. Which obviously wasn't possible. She left the room quickly, and was rather shocked that the person she saw in the hallway was clean and neat, wearing clothes that more resembled those inside Mount Weather than her own, or even those on the Ark. Octavia was instantly on alert, her hand on the hilt of her sword, but the person walked by her with barely a glance in her direction, and disappeared into a room several doors down. "What the hell is this?" she muttered to herself. The building clearly had power, as evidenced by the lights in the ceiling, and what appeared to be an elevator, though she didn't have much luck prying the doors open. Well, if she couldn't get down that way, there must be stairs. Someone came out of a room and approached her, eyes looking up and down her, appearing both curious and a little afraid. Good, she thought, he should be afraid. The man stood next to her for a moment as though waiting for something. He leaned forward and touched a button that lit up, and Octavia could hear the gears and motors in the elevator begin to run. Right. If the building had power, obviously it wouldn't need people to do it like the tower in Polis. "New here?" the man asked. Octavia frowned and looked at him sideways. "Yeah, I guess so." She didn't know what he meant and she wanted answers, but she didn't feel like engaging this stranger in conversation in order to get them. As usual, she'd either find someone she knew or get them herself. "Good luck," he said, as the elevator dinged, startling her. The man stepped through the doors as they opened. "Are you getting on?" "Yes," she responded, a bit roughly, and moved inside. She remained silent the rest of the way down. Much of this resembled life on the Ark--at least, it resembled life on the Ark for everyone else. For Octavia, not only was it a lifetime ago, but she'd barely gotten to see any of it. Living in the floor and in their small quarters, then in the brig with the other teenage delinquents, didn't exactly expose her to much of the technology and everyday things that the others took for granted. She supposed that if her brother or Clarke or any of the rest of them had somehow come to this place too, they'd probably be more used to it. Another ding woke her from her thoughts and the doors slid open. The man moved around her and slipped outside, and others waited to board. Octavia herself left the elevator and looked around. There were more people like the man in the elevator, and, she soon discovered, no usable exits. For some reason, they were all blocked off. That was the part that made her angry. She didn't care about not being in Polis anymore, that she didn't know anyone, or even that things were different. She cared that she couldn't leave. And then, a familiar face. It didn't much matter that she'd spent the last two or so weeks hating him, or that she'd spent months going back and forth between loving and hating him. For the moment, Octavia just felt a bit relieved to see her brother and moved quickly toward him. "Bell! Bellamy! What the hell is going on here?" she asked as she got close. |
