WHO: Robbie Reyes & Daisy Johnson
WHAT: Robbie finds Daisy and they talk
WHEN: 14th May, after this
WHERE: Hotel Lobby, then Daisy's room
RATING | STATUS: Low | Complete

The hotel was big, like the buildings in the centre of LA that he always saw from a distance, but it didn't take Robbie long to find an elevator down to the ground floor. He expected to see a few people on the floor where his room was located or in the elevator, even just a single person, but he saw no one until he reached the ground floor.

It was a different story down there. Panicked guests, either huddled together or running around, registered on Robbie's radar momentarily but he didn't care about them. He was looking for Daisy. Even if she didn't know how he got there from Hell, she was a familiar face. He would be glad to see her.

Daisy was glad Robbie was here, for several reasons. The first was that he was someone from home, someone who actually knew her. Of course, there were people from Daisy's world here but they didn't know her. And she didn't really know them, aside from knowing the Avengers kicked major ass. But also she was curious about what happened after Robbie had disappeared. He had no idea how he got here, but that was something all of them had in common.

She made her way back to the hotel, using her powers on anything in her path that wasn't exactly friendly. This whole zombie thing was out of control. She had no idea how long it would last, or if these people could be saved. So she was trying to not actually kill any of them.

At last she reached the lobby, and ducked in, sending several zombies flying back so they could once again secure the entrance. She turned to face Robbie with a little smirk.

"Hey."

The ground rumbling lightly beneath his feet let Robbie know that Daisy was in the area before he actually saw her. He looked in the direction of the front doors and saw her, throwing a bunch of zombies away from the immediate area. Beyond the doors, he could see other people moving around rapidly, some holding weaponry and others casting what looked like magic.

"Hey yourself," he replied, the tense expression on his face more relaxed now that he'd found her. He could hear the other guy in the back of his head, but he blocked as much out as he could. "How's it looking out there?"

"Like it's getting worse." Daisy admitted. The hotel was well defended though, there were enough people here with superpowers to get them through it. Hopefully, they wouldn't get too overwhelmed. But it was hard to say how long this was going to last, or what it really was. And was the rest of the country subject to these attacks? They couldn't help anyone else who wasn't here. That was frustrating.

"It wasn't that bad before." Daisy said. It had started off slow but now it was different. It was insane. This whole place was. Luckily Daisy was used to the insane. "I think we're safe for now, but if people have to go out...it might be a problem." And if it lasted a long time, it might be a problem too.

She had a lot of questions for Robbie, but most of them couldn't be asked here. They were not alone and there were probably things Robbie didn't want the whole world to know. "You want to go somewhere and talk?"

From what he could see from inside the building, Robbie agreed with Daisy's opinion of the situation. There were lots of capable people outside but he had read enough comic books to know that zombies were an endless thing, that it was never a simple solve. Her comment about it not being that bad before had Robbie giving her a look, as if he wasn't sure that he believed her. "Now you sound like Coulson," he said. He wasn't sure if any of the others from SHIELD were here; she hadn't mentioned any but, to be fair, he hadn't asked.

"Yeah, alright," Robbie replied. He had questions for her too; part of him was still not certain that he wasn't in Hell. Daisy was here, though, which made him think that this wasn't Hell but something else entirely. That didn't make him feel any better, even as he turned his attention toward the commotion outside for a moment. "You sure they won't need your help out there?"

Coulson. She missed him. She didn't even know if they were going to be successful in getting him out of the framework. Not if she was stuck here. But Jemma would find a way. Jemma always found a way. She found a way to survive for months on an alien planet. That thought comforted Daisy as she snapped back to reality. Unfortunately for Robbie, she thought he was the only familiar face he was going to see right now.

"They should be able to handle it for awhile." Daisy said. "I need a break anyway." Even superheroes needed some self care. And though her braces helped her from breaking every bone in her arms when she did her thing, it still took a toll on her. Besides, the zombies seemed to be...drying out sort of? Must have been the desert air. But they were still enough of a threat that it wouldn't be a permanent solution.

"We'll go to my room and talk." She suggested. "Then we can come down and see if they need more help."

He didn't argue with that. There were a lot of people outside, occupied with fighting the zombies. If they had been alright before he got there, he figured that they would be in the same position for a while longer. And he wanted to talk to Daisy, somewhere they could speak freely and wouldn't be overheard.

Robbie nodded at her suggestion, turning in the direction of the elevator. He punched the up button when they reached it, waiting until the doors slid open to say, "Lead the way." He waited until she entered the elevator first, then joined her inside. The elevator ride was short and he noticed when it passed the floor he'd been on when he woke up, going up another two floors before stopping. He followed Daisy down the hallways until they reached a door, a number emblazoned on the wooden surface.

"Do people get assigned rooms at random when they arrive?" Robbie asked, following her into the room once she opened the door and went in, and he shut the door behind them. A brief glance around showed him the room was pretty much identical to the one he'd woken up in, which he guessed was his room now until he could get back to Los Angeles. Daisy's room just looked like it had been lived in a while, unlike his own which he had abandoned soon after he'd realised Daisy was here. At least now they were alone, which meant they could talk freely. "How's Gabe? Is he alright?"

"Yeah, I think they do." Daisy answered when they were at her room. She didn't know how it all worked, or how they were assigned. She was glad to have her own room though. She thought it was strange how they were all assigned to just a few floors when the hotel itself was massive. But she hadn't looked into it or anything. And she hadn't been able to get much more information than that.

"For a bit after I first got here, I was stuck in my room." She told him. She was recovering from what happened before and when she was in the framework. She had no idea how she was going to explain all of that to Robbie. And if she went back, she'd be in the framework again unless Jemma had figured out how to get them out. But hadn't Daisy just disappeared when she came here? She didn't want to think about it too much, it hurt her head.

She nodded at his question. "Last I knew, Gabe's good." She said. "We've been a little busy with some other things." That was an understatement but she didn't want to do all the talking. She was interested in talking to Robbie about where he'd been, what he'd seen since he disappeared. "There are other people from our world here too." She said. "But not anyone I know personally."

It was a reasonable assumption, considering where he'd been put in relation to her room. Whomever or whatever was responsible for all of them being there, it didn't seem to be too concerned about where it put people when they first arrived. Or perhaps it was just a random algorithm. "I'm two floors down," he remarked, in an off-handed way. But it was good for them to know where the other was, especially in a bad situation. Robbie didn't know anyone else here, and he certainly didn't trust anyone other than Daisy.

His brows knitted together, confused as to why Daisy would be stuck in the room after she first arrived. Was that a thing too? Did the hotel lock people in without warning? "Why? Did you do something to piss this place off, chica?"

He felt relieved to know that Gabe was alright, even if he had only her words for reassurance, but it made him want to get back to Los Angeles more. He wasn't sure if he liked the way she worded her next sentence, though, and he looked at her. "What other things?" He knew SHIELD dealt with a bunch of strange shit; he'd worked with them to kill his tío. But Robbie was concerned about Gabe, mostly.

"Like who?" he asked, curious whom she meant. He only knew Daisy and the people he'd met through her at SHIELD, so the people she was referring to could have been literally anyone. But the way she spoke implied that no one that they both knew was there. "No one from SHIELD is here, then?"

"I'm sure I'll find you." She stated confidently. "Our names are embossed outside the doors. Not too long after I'd first arrived, some guy named Dean went through each floor and wrote them all down and then basically did a roll call to see who was who. It was very second grade." Daisy mused. She wondered if he might do it again since all of these new people had turned up, Robbie included. She sincerely hoped his name plate only said Robbie Reyes. And not...any other names people might have questions about.

Hers didn't say Quake or Skye. Or Mary Sue Poots. So it was a safe assumption that Robbie would be alright too. She laughed and rolled her eyes when he asked if she'd done something to piss the place off. Why did he always assueme it was something she had done? She almost wished it was because somehow that would be easier to explain than the whole...framework other world where HYDRA had won thing.

"I didn't do anything." She finally said. "I just needed some time to recover from the latest crisis at SHIELD." She did know some people had ended up locked in their rooms though, so it wasn't like it was completely out there. And Daisy did have a habit of pissing people off. She'd been so...lost after Lincoln died. Right now that felt like a lifetime ago.

"No one we know directly, but some of the Avengers are here from what I've seen. Maybe some SHIELD agents but no one from my team." There was probably a very good reason for that, since most of them were stuck in the frameworks and their bodies held hostage somewhere else. But that was some heavy and out there subject matter.

"You want something to drink?" She asked. She definitely felt like she could use something right now.

That was something he hadn't noticed. He had been more interested in getting out of the room at first, expecting to be on some dark plane of existence with the other guy but having ended up in a hotel room instead. His focus had not changed much after talking with Daisy, though it had been more about meeting up with her at that point then getting the hell out of the room. At that moment, he wasn't even sure what number his room was, but at least he knew which room Daisy was in. That, and having his name on the door meant that he would be able to find his own room again.

Her reactions to his accusation made a smile creep onto his lips, the sound of her laughter a light-hearted moment in their serious conversation. It made him think of when he first met her, searching for answers about the infamous Ghost Rider and finding him instead. Their friendship, because that's what it was despite everything, hadn't gotten off to the best of starts but when it came right down to it, there wasn't a person (other than Gabe) he trusted more than Daisy. So despite his question, Robbie believed her when she eventually said that she hadn't done anything, but he still wanted answers.

"Something that wasn't Tío trying to destroy the world?" he questioned, remembering all that had happened like it was only yesterday. For him, it had been. For her, it sounded like it'd been quite a bit longer. SHIELD were the sort of people that dealt with one crisis after another, but a small part of him expected there to be a lull after they had stopped Eli Morrow. Perhaps it was little naivety he had left causing him to think that.

Knowing that some of the famed Avengers were there too didn't produce a reaction from Robbie, other than a nod to show that he'd heard what she said; their presence didn't affect him much, unless the other guy reacted negatively to them. Here, just one person knew of the other guy and he wanted to keep his involvement with it a secret for as long as he could. "Just water," he said; he'd intended to refuse her offer, but the ordeal he had been through in the device his tío had built and the memory of it changed his mind. "So what do I need to know? And what do you want to know?"

"We deal with things like that quite frequently in SHIELD." Daisy confirmed. They didn't usually have much of a break in between the crisises either. That was just the way it went. Coulson had once said they were humanity's last line of defense, but it was so much more than that now. The universe was so much bigger than she ever thought.

She got Robbie the water he requested, and as an afterthought, that was the drink she chose too. She wanted something stronger. But with this whole zombie thing it was probably better to keep her wits about her for now. She wasn't even sure where to begin with the Framework explanation. It was pretty out there, even for SHIELD and the like. Then again, Robbie had thought he was in Hell or something at first, hadn't he? Surely he could handle this.

"Well when AIDA read from that book...everything changed." Daisy explained. That had been how it all started. The book had been instrumental in trying to stop Eli. But so much darkness had come from it. "She...created another world, one where HYDRA won. Inhumans were hunted." That wasn't so different from their world with the Watchdogs, of course. "Everything there...it was different." She explained. She basically gave him the cliff notes version because right now, it didn't matter so much. She sighed when she was finished.

"So now Jemma is stuck there on her own, trying to get our people out. And I'm here." Not able to do anything about it, she added silently. Right now, Daisy could brood with the best of them.

Robbie wasn't sure what he expected to hear. Since the conversation between Daisy, Coulson and himself, he'd known that book was bad news. But to hear Daisy explain everything that had happened, even if it was a basic version, it was a lot to absorb for Robbie. He was a smart kid; sure, he had finished high school in the 11th grade like he kept reminding Gabe, but he wasn't stupid. Yet the things that Daisy said the android woman had achieved with the book sounded insane.... and he knew it was possible.

After all, he had the other guy on board.

The glass of water was still in his hand; untouched since she had handed it to him, too occupied focusing on her explanation instead. "And you need to get back and help her," he said. He understood why; he wanted nothing more than to get back to LA and Gabe, to try and fix what he had screwed up when he let the other guy run wild and attacked the director of SHIELD. Robbie would never forget the look on Gabe's face. He'd felt like such a screw up but, more than anything, he'd felt ashamed. He usually had better control over the other guy. Thinking back on that, he made a decision. "I'll help you get back."

For however they'd started out, as something less than friends, Daisy was glad to have Robbie there with her now. He was familiar. Sure, he wasn't Jemma or Coulson but he knew her, knew something about what she'd been through. It hadn't even been so long ago that she'd told him to kill her, because she deserved it. Before it had felt like almost a different lifetime, especially with the framework. But with Robbie here right now, all of it was coming to the surface again.

She was glad he didn't seem to think she was completely insane with the story she'd just told him. It still kind of sounded insane to her. And she'd been through it.

"Thank you." Daisy said. "But we can't just worry about that." Yes, she wanted to get back and help her team. But there was so much more at stake now. "All of these people, they don't belong here either." They couldn't get Daisy back home, Robbie wherever he was going from here, and leave all of the others behind. It wouldn't be right. Coulson certainly wouldn't have done it.

"I'm sure I've given you a lot to think about." Daisy offered with a shrug. She was exhausted too. "We'll talk again soon, and you know how to find me."
