He didn't begrudge her the scepticism that he was sure she felt. In her place, Cassian would have been the same, probably even more suspicious. Being told that he'd been somewhere that he had no knowledge of, done things that he couldn't remember; he wouldn't have been thrilled, to put it mildly. If Jyn had asked, Cassian would have shown her the conversation he'd told her about. But she didn't, and he returned the device to his pocket without a word, keeping his eyes on her. He watched Jyn shake her head, as if getting rid of whatever unpleasant thoughts lurked in her mind, and his dark eyes met hers. Her words made the corner of his mouth pull upward with a smile again, exhaling a puff of air that almost sounded like a laugh, and he nodded. She was here now. That was all that mattered. He turned his attention to her question. "I've seen at least one person call this planet Earth. This city is called Las Vegas. It seems to be a leisure resort," Cassian replied, nodding his head briefly toward the throngs of oblivious people around them. He didn't like the way they seemed completely unaware of their existence, even as they stood right there, unaware of the existence of all the people who had arrived here. "There are others here, from our galaxy. But I've seen no sign of Bodhi, Chirrut, Baze or K2." |
