Just when Ashe thought she knew Balthier well enough to predict how he would respond to something, he turned around and left her speechless--whether he was opening up about his past, or selfless saving others a moment after pretending not to care. Now she could add 'ignore urgent direct questions and walk away in the middle of a conversation' to the list of things she could not have predicted.
She stood rooted in her spot as she looked after him, not knowing how she was supposed to react. Was he done answering her questions? Did he want nothing to do with her? Perhaps she had given him too much credit. Perhaps he really didn't care about anyone else at all.
Or was she supposed to follow him? If that was the case, how was she supposed to know that? And, was she supposed to know where in Ivalice this strange place called Las Vegas was? Ashe had never even heard of it before.
"Where are you going?" Ashe wasn't sure she cared whether or not her tone reflected just how exasperated and frustrated she was becoming. Would it kill Balthier to give a straight answer for once in his life?
