It hadn't been very long since Balthier arrived, but he'd always adapted to situations rather quickly. He wore the clothes he'd been given and explored the city, getting his bearings. It was an odd place, but he knew where the important things were now. Clothes, food, and entertainment were all nearby. Unfortunately, that still left several questions burning in his mind with nobody who knew how to answer them.
At least the room was comfortable. He missed the Strahl though. He also missed Fran, but if she decided to show, he'd never admit it to her. Had to save face, of course. The last person he expected to appear was the new queen. Yet it was her voice he heard outside his door. He'd been lounging in his room, wearing a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt, something he'd never heard of before, let alone anything he'd be caught dead in back home. Yet he was less concerned with appearances when he shot up to answer the door.
He wasn't about to go and ruin his reputation for aloof responses, though. When he opened the door, he regarded her as if he'd been expecting her. He leaned against the doorframe and managed a knowing smile.
"Well, well, well," he said, refusing to betray how nice it was to see her. "Look who decided to visit."
